What I'm Reading:
This weekend I read HOLD STILL by Nina LaCour, who you all already I know I fangirl over, and just...everyone. Go read this book right now. But not anywhere or with anyone who you wouldn't want to see you sobbing, okay? Okay. Now I'm right at the beginning of AMY & ROGER'S EPIC DETOUR by Morgan Matson--I really enjoyed SECOND CHANCE SUMMER, so I have good feelings about this one. (Sidenote--I really prefer the US covers to these UK ones, although I still think this one's cute.)
What I'm Writing:
I've been working on my query (PSA: Query Shark is the best), and...I've started a rewrite.
I never EVER thought I would rewrite anything; I always figured that if I thought a story was not working so much so that I needed to scrap everything and start over, I just wouldn't do it. Drafting is not my favourite thing, so the idea of essentially drafting the same story twice did not appeal to me. But...
It's not really the same story. It has some of the same characters, and some of the same ideas, but enough is different that it feels new to me. (We'll see how long that feeling lasts, huh?)
What Inspires Me Right Now:
On tumblr recently I saw the absolute PERFECT gif for a future story, and then whilst wandering through YouTube I stumbled upon the video it came from! I honestly can't wait to start writing this story--after I finish this rewrite, and draft the other story that's been hovering in the planning stages for a long time, that is. It never ends, does it?
What Else I'm Up To:
Trying to plan a night out with my friends in Bristol because my friend Katie is GRADUATING this year! So we won't have a house to stay in in the fine city of Briz, (sadface) but she will be coming back home so I will finally have someone to hang out with during termtime! We are also formulating plans for a podcast! And a joint blog! Christ knows if any of that will actually happen because the number of things we've planned over the years but not actually done is about, oh, one million.
And that, lovelies, is what I've been up to. Off to catch up with everyone else's posts over at Jaime's blog!
